The coordinating group includes the Scientific Coordinator, Michael St John, Ivo Grigorov, and the representative of DTU-Aqua Financial and Legal Department. This group will take responsibility for financial, scientific and technical coordination, reporting to the Commission, as well as communication within and beyond the programme.

Scientific Steering Committee (SSC)

The coordinator will be guided in major decision making and strategic planning and monitoring of the consortium by the SSC, comprised of WP leaders, and co-leaders, and chaired by the Scientific Coordinator, Michael St John. The responsibilities of the SSC will include:

• monitoring progress and updating the Work Plan
• anticipating issues with high-risk deliverables
• propose budget and allocate funds to subcontractors
• make progress reports on the state of the project

An International Expert Advisory Panel includes members from EU, US and CANADA national programmes and initiatives of relevance to the BASIN International Science Plan (Wiebe et al., 2009). The panel will be invited to the General Meetings (May/June 2012, end 2013, end 2014) to witness progress and provide independent advice on the programme’s relevance and to identify and facilitate collaborations with parallel non-EU initiatives, and offer guidance on fostering integration across the various funded US and CANADA national programmes of relevance.

The coordinator will chair the User Advisory Group (UAG) composed of members of funding agencies, government agencies and industry stakeholders. The UAG that will be invited to the General Meetings (May/June 2012, end 2013, end 2014) to advise the consortium on the most efficient means of transferring programme gathered knowledge, synthesis and recommendations to relevant cross-Atlantic stakeholders on basin-scale ocean management.
